AIADMK, MDMK urges EC to reschedule Tamil Nadu & Puducherry polls

The AIADMK and its ally the MDMK on Thursday urged the Election Commission to reschedule the election in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to the end of April or early May this year. In a statement issued in Chennai on Thursday, the AIADMK General Secretary Ms. Jayalalitha said that school board and college exams will be on till the 25th April and the exam preparation of students could be affected if elections are held on the April 13th as announced by Commission. She further said that teachers who have been deployed for election duty will not be in a position to fully involve themselves in the Election commission’s pre-poll exercises as they would be pre-occupied with the conduct of exams. The MDMK General Secretary Mr Vaiko also endorsed the views of the AIADMK general secretary and urged the commission to reschedule the polling date to the first week of May.
