In Tamilnadu, AIADMK is all set to sweep the local body polls. In all the ten corporations including Chennai, Coimbatore, Kovai, Tiruchi, Tirunelveli and Madurai AIADMK candidates are leading for the mayor posts. In Tuticorin, party candidate Sasikala Pushpa has won by a margin of 23,256 votes. In Chennai, the AIADMK Mayor candidate Mr.Saidai Duraisamy who had lost to Mr.M.K.Stalin in the Assembly election has been leading by a margin of 50 thousand votes against DMK’s Ma Subramanian who sought re-election for the mayor post. According to the 6894 results declared for corporation, municipalities and town panchayats. AIADMK has won 2711 posts followed by DMK in 1601 posts. The ruling AIADMK has established a massive sweep in the civic body polls. The civic poll results show that Congress, PMK,MDMK and the left parties are out of the show in political scenario in the State. They seem to have lost their vote bank at the grass root level. The DMK had to grapple with the situation as it had to fight a tough battle to retain its roots. All the parties of the State who decided to test the political waters on their own seem to have burnt their fingers.
