AIADMK and DMK members demanded intervention of the Centre to save the lives of Tamil fishermen, apprehended by Sri Lankan Navy, the fourth incident this month. Raising the matter during Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha, Tiruchi Shiva of DMK said, 28 fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy recently and seized their boats. <br/><br/>He said, fishermen have threatened to go on strike and boycott the forthcoming assembly elections. Shiva demanded, the Centre take up the matter with Sri Lankan authorities to find a permanent solution to the issue. S. Muthukaruppan of AIADMK also raised the same issue and demanded effective intervention by India to save the lives of Tamil fishermen.
