AIADMK demands PM's intervention on Cauvery issue

The Members of Parliament belonging to the AIADMK have demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention on the Cauvery issue. They demanded that the Prime Minister may direct the Ministry of Water Resources to withdraw its Interlocutory Application before the Supreme Court and to comply with its orders to constitute the Cauvery Management Board.<br/><br/> A delegation of the party MPs led by Dr. M.Thambi Durai, Deputy Speaker, Lok Sabha submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister's office and has said it is necessary to do justice to the farmers of Tamil Nadu by taking back its opposition to the Board to be set up by tomorrow as stipulated by the Apex Court.<br/><br/>The MPs have highlighted that the Cauvery Management Board is to function under the control of the Government of India, Ministry of Water Resources with maximum voting rights.The MPs have also expressed their displeasure over the Central Ministers belonging to Karnataka, supporting the stand of the Karnataka Government to not release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
