NDA proposed Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind got a boost with the AIADMK (Amma) faction, led by Chief Minister K Palaniswami announced its support to him. <br/><br/>This came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi rang up Mr Palaniswami to seek his party's support for the National Democratic Alliance nominee. <br/><br/>A press release issued by the AIADMK in Chennai said that the high command yesterday discussed the matter and unanimously decided to support Mr Kovind. <br/><br/>Earlier in the day, JD (U) decided to support the candidature of the NDA nominee. <br/><br/>Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu welcomed the decision of the JD(U) to support and saying it indicates a wider acceptability of the candidate among the non-NDA parties.<br/><br/>The senior BJP leader also appealed to the other parties to support Kovind's candidature for the country's top constitutional post.<br/>It is worth recalling that parties like BJP, Shiv Sena, TDP, TRS, BJD, AIADMK, LJP have declared their support to Mr Kovind.
