AI tussle: Govt talks tough against June 12 strike

Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has sent out a stern warning to Air India unions which have threatened to go on strike from June 12. He said indiscipline and irresponsible action will not be tolerated and added that the Government is fully behind the Air India management. Talking to a TV Channel, he hoped that wiser counsel will prevail. <br/> <br/>He said after the Mangalore tragedy, the entire Air India family should have stood united and tried to resurrect their company and the brand. The Minister emphasised that in this age of competition, Air India will need to shape up and offer the best services.<br/> <br/>Taking a tough stand, Air India had sacked 58 employees and suspended 15 engineers for going on a flash strike on Tuesday affecting the airline operations. The strike, which lasted 33-hours, was called off on Wednesday after the Delhi High Court directed the striking unions to return to work.<br/>
