The Government has decided to bring on board some pilots from private airlines to operate Air India trunk routes. Official sources said in New Delhi that Air India has approached DG, Civil Aviation to enable these pilots to fly Air India planes. It has also been decided to follow the 'no-work-no-pay' principle for agitating pilots. Ten pilots have reported for work after Air India's ultimatum to the agitating pilots to resume duties by 5 pm on Friday. Air India spokesman said that they were keeping a close watch on the situation and would be able to give the final figure of those who have joined work later today. According to Air India sources, the management is preparing a list of pilots who absented themselves without any intimation and will initiate action against them.
