The executive pilots of Air India on Sunday asked the management of the national carrier to revoke sack orders against striking pilots and hold immediate negotiations to end the six-day impasse. The striking pilots while stating that they were ready for talks, showed no signs of returning to work, leaving hundreds of passengers fretting with their holiday schedules going haywire. According to PTI, at least 20 international flights from Delhi and Mumbai, were cancelled.
The airline management has sacked 71 pilots so far and has also asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, DGCA for the cancellation of the flying licenses of 11 office-bearers of the Indian Pilots' Guild, IPG, which is spearheading the agitation. The DGCA had yesterday issued show-cause notices to these 11 pilots of the IPG.
