Air India operations were affected yesterday with 15 of its flights being cancelled and some others delayed as a number of pilots did not report to work to protest cut in their productivity-linked incentives (PLI). Among the flights cancelled was a Delhi-Kabul flight apart from those going from the national capital to Mumbai, Lucknow, Aurangabad, Pune, Chennai, Srinagar and Indore-Bhopal. In Chennai, two international flights to Colombo and Sharjah and one domestic flight to Madurai were cancelled due to the agitation by Executive pilots. In Kolkata, a flight to Aizwal was cancelled as the pilot reported sick as a mark of protest over slashing of PLI of executive pilots by up to 50 per cent in view of bad financial condition of the carrier. For a number of flights, whose pilots reported sick due to the protest, alternative arrangements were made. The agitation by pilots also led to delays in flights on various sectors. Officially the national carrier insisted that only 13 flights were cancelled. However, sources in the civil aviation ministry said 15 flights were cancelled. Air India CMD Arvind Jadhav will meet the executive pilots on Sunday in Mumbai to "address their concerns.
