AI can play significant role in decision making but human discretion is irreplaceable, says CJI

<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222; font-size: 10pt;">Chief Justice of India SA Bobde has said, use of artificial intelligence in the judiciary can play a significant role in decision making, but human discretion is irreplaceable when it comes to delivering justice.</span></p><span style="color: #222222;"> <br />'' Addressing the 79th foundation day celebration of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, IATA, in New Delhi today, Justice Bobde said, many nations are adopting and even experimenting with artificial intelligence in their judiciaries as this advanced technology has potential to reduce the workload in the judiciary. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said,  artificial intelligence will bring new hope in public institutions in the country. On the role of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, he said, it has played a vital role in the tax administration by adopting the transparent mechanism to help the taxpayers.</span>
