In Gujarat, a session’s court in Ahmedabad will today resume hearing the bail plea of arrested IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt. Sessions judge VK Vyas had adjourned the hearing on Bhatt's bail on the 5th of this month after hearing the arguments of his lawyer.
The court had also rejected the state government's application opposing the hearing of Bhatt's bail plea while the review petition of remand was pending before another judge.
AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that the Session court will today hear Bhatt's bail plea while another judge will hear the pending review petition for police remand.
Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was arrested on 30th last month and sent to judicial custody after the Ahmedabad rural court had rejected his police remand.
He was arrested in connection with an FIR filed against him by police constable KD Pant for allegedly threatening and making him sign false affidavits. Sanjiv Bhatt had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court alleging complicity in post-Godhra riots by Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Later, he was charge sheeted by the state Government and suspended for alleged unauthorized absence from duty.
