Ahmedabad court issues notice to Gujarat govt, admits bail plea of Sanjiv Bhatt

The Ahmedabad district court has issued notices to the Gujarat government and Director General of Police after admitting the bail plea of IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt. They have been asked to file their replies by tommorow when the plea will come up for hearing. Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was arrested on Friday on charges of fabricating evidence and wrongful confinement after a police constable K.D.Pant filed an FIR. Constable Pant had worked with Sanjiv Bhatt in the intelligence bureau during 2002 Gujarat riots. Our Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Sanjiv Bhatt is in Sabarmati jail under judicial custody after a magisterial court rejected his police remand on Saturday.
