Ahemdabad session court adjourns Bhatt’s bail plea trial till Monday

In Gujarat, Ahmedabad session court on Friday adjourned the hearing of bail plea of suspended IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt's bail plea till Monday. Earlier in the day, another court adjourned till October 10 the pronouncement of order on the maintainability of the remand revision application filed by Gujarat government. In its application, the government sought the custody of Bhatt.

AIR correspondent reports that Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was arrested on 30th September and sent in judicial custody after Ahmedabad rural court rejected his police remand. He was arrested in connection with an FIR filed against him by a police constable KD Pant for allegedly threatening and making him sign on false affidavits.

Sanjiv Bhatt had filed an affidavit in Supreme Court alleging complicity in post-Godhra riots by Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Later, he was charge sheeted by the state Government and suspended for alleged unauthorized absence from duty.
