Two CRPF personnel were killed and 4 others injured in a landmine blast triggered by Maoists at Gangta Junge under Kharagpur Police Station area of Munger district early this morning.
Our correspondent reports that the DM Munger, Narendra Kumar confirmed the death of 2 CRPF personal during treatment at the health center at Kharagpur. All the injured personal have been sent to the Bhagalpur Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
The DM said that the incident occurred when the CRPF personal were patrolling in the area. The area is under Tarapur Assembly segment of Jamui LoK Sabha constituency. The DM also said that the condition of two out of four is stated to be critical.
On the other hand voting began at 7AM in all the six parliamentary constituencies here and voters are standing outside polling booth since 6 AM. Most of the polling booths have witnessed same scenario with voters in large number queuing up.
Altogether 46 thousand Central Para military forces and Bihar police are in action to conduct peaceful and fair polling, while four helicopters including Air force Chetak, Cheetah, MI-17 and Bihar government Dolphin would be pressed into service for air surveillance of naxal affected areas.
A total of 80 candidates including 10 women are in the fray for the 1st phase of polling in the state. Over 94 Lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in this phase, out of which around 4 lakh 75 thousand are first time voters.
Lok Sabha Speaker and Congress candidate Meira Kumar, Bihar Vidhan Sabha Speaker and JD(U) leader Uday Narayan Chaudhary, RLSP leader Upendra Kushwaha, RJD leader Kanti Singh, Congress leader Nikhil Kumar, LJP leader Chirag Paswan and BJP leader Giriraj Singh,are in the fray. In these 6 seats three of them are reserved for Scheduled Castes.
