Ahead of Japanese PM's India visit, both countries say they are bullish on bilateral ties

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will arrive in New Delhi this evening on a three day visit to India to attend the 9th annual Indo-Japan summit talks. Mr. Abe will hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow. Mr Abe also scheduled to address business leaders forum and will inaugurate Japan-India Innovation Seminar. The visiting dignitary, accompanied by Mr. Modi, will also visit Varanasi tomorrow and attend Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh Ghat. <br/><br/>Before the arrival of Mr Abe, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted that India is all set to welcome its great friend and a phenomenal leader Shinzo Abe. He also Mr Abe's visit will further deepen India-Japan relations. In an article written by Mr Abe today in a leading English daily said, India and Japan are natural partners. <br/><br/>He said, this relationship has the greatest potential in the world and he will turn it into reality. Mr Abe said, the Japan-India relationship is blessed with the largest potential for development of any bilateral relationship anywhere in the world. He said, in order to push forward sustainable growth, Japan is supporting a variety of Prime Minister Modi's initiatives such as Make in India, Skill India, and Clean India. <br/><br/><br/>Shinzo Abe's visit to India assumes a lot of significance as both the leaders will review implementation of various decisions taken in course of last one year to enhance economic ties, particularly in the trade and investment sector. The focus of the visit will be on forging greater synergies between two major Asian economies and take forward the special strategic ties. <br/><br/>During his visit both the leaders are also likely to sign Rs 8,000-crore deal to build a bullet train network in India. Prime Minister Modi in his visit to Japan last year had announced doubling of its private and public investment in India to about 34 billion dollars over a period of five years. The two sides had also decided to elevate their ties to a Special Strategic Global Partnership. <br/><br/>During the summit talks last year, PM Modi and Mr Abe had agreed to enhance defence and strategic cooperation to a new level and also decided to speed up negotiations on civil nuclear deal.

In a tweet, he said, Mr Abe's visit will further deepen India-Japan relations.<br/><br/>In an article today in a leading English daily, Mr Abe said, India and Japan are natural partners. He said, this relationship has the greatest potential in the world and he will turn it into reality. <br/><br/>Mr Abe said, the Japan-India relationship is blessed with the largest potential for development of any bilateral relationship anywhere in the world. He said, strong India is in the best interest of Japan, and strong Japan is in the best interest of India.<br/><br/>He said, in order to push forward sustainable growth, Japan is supporting a variety of Prime Minister Modi's initiatives such as Make in India, Skill India, and Clean India. He said, through United Nations Security Council reforms, both countries are aiming to become new permanent members is also an important shared agenda.
