Agusta Westland scam: CBI to again question SP Tyagi today

Former Air Force Chief S P Tyagi has been called again today for a fresh round of questioning in connection with the Agusta Westland VVIP helicopter deal.<br/><br/>CBI last week questioned former Air Chief and his cousins, Sanjeev, Rajeev and Sandeep besides advocate Gautam Khaitan asking exhaustively about finances, firms established by them and their relations with European middlemen in helicopter deal.<br/><br/>The questioning revolved around accounts of IDS Tunisia and remittances received by it. CBI claimed that Khaitan was being evasive during questioning and concealing information.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said, a deal of this nature could not have been swung by former Air Force chief S P Tyagi alone.<br/><br/>Pointing out that the price of helicopters was increased by atleast 70 percent, the Minister said, there must be a strong hand behind the deal. <br/><br/>Former Defence Minister A. K. Antony on Sunday refuted saying that the deviation in the tender process for purchasing the VVIP helicopters started in 2003 during the NDA rule headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.<br/><br/>Mr. Antony claimed that he became suspicious about the deal when he, as the Defence Minister, observed the proceedings of a case in an Italian court.<br/><br/>
