Union Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas has said that the agriculture sector has got the potential to boost the country's economy. Speaking at a conference on 'Future Approaches in Agricultural Extension' in New Delhi on Monday, Mr. Thomas said that agricultural extension and Krishi Vigyan Kendras can play a significant role in uplifting the small and medium farmers who constitute an indivisible component in our economic growth. Speaking on this occasion Member, Planning Commission Abhijit Sen said that spreading awareness among farmers about use of modern technology in agriculture has assumed great importance and a two way communication with the grass roots level agriculture extension personnel can bring about the desired results in the growth in the agriculture sector.
