Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu said agriculture and industry are both important for the development and prosperity of the nation. <br/><br/>He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has a vision for the future of the country and is taking up several developmental initiatives accordingly.<br/><br/>The Union Minister said, Prime Minister had envisaged that development of the country is possible only with the development of the poor in the society.<br/><br/>Mr. Venkaiah Naidu was addressing a huge gathering after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with the Union Ministers Piyush Goel, Prakash Javadekar and Y.S. Chaudhary dedicated to the nation Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Super Critical Thermal Power project at Nelatur near Krishnapatnam in Nellore district today.<br/><br/>He said providing power round-the-clock to the people is what the Prime Minister wished and this is possible only by completing and augmenting various pending projects in this sector.<br/><br/>He expressed happiness that the two 800 MW units with an estimated cost of Rs. 5,600 crore each and contributing close to 39 million units daily of the total 155 million units requirement of the State at present, would drastically change the scenario in the State bringing in more development.<br/><br/>Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu speaking on the occasion said that the State had overcome the deficit of 22.5 million units of power after bifurcation with the help and support extended by the Centre. <br/><br/>He said every household will get electricity connection assuring that there won't be power cuts anymore with quality power supply.<br/><br/> The Damodaram Sanjeevaiah project was the first-of-its-kind power plant operated by a public sector undertaking in the country with super critical technology that would enable less coal consumption and more energy efficient operations.<br/><br/>In order to make the State a power surplus, Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) has embarked upon a major initiative for expanding its installed capacity by over 2,000 MW.<br/><br/>The project had been taken up with debt equity ratio of 80: 20 with assistance from the Rural Electrification Corporation and the Power Finance Corporation.<br/><br/>Mr. Chandrababu Naidu also laid the foundation stone for the 800 MW third unit to be constructed in the second phase.<br/><br/>Later the Union Ministers along with the Chief Minister inaugurated the Administrative Building of the APGENCO.
