<span style="color: #222222;">In Ladakh region, agricultural activities began during the peak of the lockdown period. In the absence of other economic activities, Ladakh has increased the cultivable area under horticultural crops, cereals, fodder, fruits, vegetables and pulses this year due to the abundant manpower. AIR correspondent reports that various central schemes on agriculture and allied sectors and incentives like Kisan Samman Nidhi to farmers are attracting the people to agriculture in the region.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Good Agriculture practices with the support of DIHAR, SKAUST and local Agriculture Department, have doubled the income of many farmers in the region. In Kargil district, out of 11,454 hectares of cultivable land, Barley is grown in 5324 hectares, wheat in 2123 hectares, vegetables in 351 and other crops are covered in 3623 hectares.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Similarly, in Leh district Barley in 3637, wheat is covered in 2362 hectares, vegetables in 564, other crops in 3014 hectares from the total cultivable land of 10,542 hectares. Chief Agriculture officer in Leh Mr. Tashi Tsetan said about 5000 hectares increase in cropping land is recorded so far. Considering the pattern Mr. Tashi Tsesan said, another 2700 hectares will be added by the end of this financial year. </span> <br />
