Agri sector received FDI inflows worth Rs 70cr in first quarter of fiscal: Pawar

Agriculture sector has attracted FDI inflows worth 70 crore rupees during the first quarter of this fiscal. Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha today, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said that FDI worth 875 crore rupees was received last year while FDI to the tune of 6,612 crore rupees was received during the last plan. Mr Pawar said, the investments accrued mainly in the areas of development and production of seeds, planting material, horticulture, cold-storage and warehousing. The Minister told the members that the FDI policy aims at attracting and promoting foreign investments to supplement domestic capital, technology and skills for accelerating economic growth.
