Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has appealed to the Members of Parliament to monitor field level activities for pulse production, including seed distribution. <br/><br/>In a letter, Mr Singh said, their feedback will provide valuable input in improving government's efforts towards increasing pulses production. He said, the government has given top priority to increase production of pulses in the country as its production was affected due to deficient rainfall in two consecutive years. <br/><br/>He said, Rs 11,000 crore have been earmarked towards central share of pulses programme under National Food Security Mission. The Agriculture Minister also said, the government has taken up various new interventions including free seed distribution and creation of 150 seed hubs from this year to increase production of pulses.
