India and Russia are expected to sign a number of agreements to further boost their co-operations in the areas of Defence, Civil nuclear energy, fertilisers and other fields during the two day visit of Russian Prime Minister Mr. Vladimir Putin to India beginning tonight. With the price issues sorted out by the two countries with regard to Admiral Gorshkov Aircraft Carrier, several supplementary agreements related to the deal will also be signed. The agreements will be signed after the talks between Dr Manmohan Singh and his Russian counterpart Valdimir Putin in New Delhi tomorrow evening. Further cooperation in the High tech areas like hydro carbons, space and production of telecom equipment is expected to be discussed. The External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash said that the visit of Prime Minister of Russia which is a time tested friend of will further consolidate the Strategic partnership between the two countries. <br/><br/>Earlier Mr Putin's Foreign Policy Aide Yuri Ushakov said that 14-15 agreements and contracts worth over USD 10 billion are likely to concluded. He said that agreement on retrofitting of Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier, the contract for supply of additional 29 naval MiG29K fighters and a deal to jointly develop a transport aircraft are among the agreements to be signed. Mr Putin Will be leading a high level 15 member delegation that includes the Minister for economic development and energy Minister. AIR correspondents says that India's defence cooperation with Russia has gone beyond the buyer seller relationship with the two sides involved in joint production, development and research in defence equipment. The trade between the two countries was to the tune of 7.5 billion dollars last year, which was eight per cent more than the previous year.
