Food, public distribution and consumer affairs minister Prof K V Thomas has said that the agrarian sector has recorded 4.56 per cent growth during this financial year. Addressing a press conference after the regional conference of food ministers from South India at Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, he said that the Centre is working on a new market intervention mechanism to contain price rise of essential items. States have been asked to submit proposal for the same.
