In Andhra Pradesh, the agitation lunched by the Osmania University students demanding postponement of written examinations for Sub Inspectors’ recruitment has turned violent on Thursday evening in Hyderabad. Police had to control the agitators by using teargas shells and resorting to mild lathicharge. About 10 buses of Road Transport Corporation and some commercial buildings at few places near the University campus were damaged when the agitators pelted stones. Hyderabad City Police have imposed prohibitory orders which will be in force for a week from this morning.The pro-Telangana students were agitating for the past few days demanding the Government to postpone the written examinations till an amendment was made to the Presidential Order to the affect that Hyderabad is not a free zone for the police recruitments. Physical fitness tests were already held for about 1290 SI posts and the written examinations are scheduled for next month. Meanwhile, the state government has decided to conduct the written examinations for SI posts as per the schedule. Chief Minister K Rosaiah announced on Thursday evening that the examinations would be held next month as per schedule by keeping the problems of the candidates in view. However, he assured that the recruitment process would be kept in abeyance for the contentious zone till the decision was made on the amendment by the central government.
