Even as the Centre is trying hard to facilitate official-level talks between Kerala and Tamil Nadu on the Mullapperiyar dam safety issue, the ongoing agitation in Idukki and other parts of Kerala has gained further momentum. In Idukki, more people's representatives have joined the agitation.Meanwhile, the advertisement campaign unleashed by Tamil Nadu in the national newspapers saying the dam is safe has evoked sharp criticism from KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala and others. At the same time, the water level of 116 year old dam has come down slightly to 135 feet. Police officials of Kerala and Tamil Nadu are keeping utmost vigil to avoid any untoward incident at the border in Idukki.
