Agitating Gujjars block Delhi-Jaipur, Agra-Jaipur railtracks

In Rajasthan, the agitating Gujjars have blocked the Delhi-Jaipur and Agra-Jaipur railway tracks. With this the rail traffic from Jaipur to Delhi and Agra has been disrupted. The trains on Delhi-Mumbai section diverted on this route due to blockage in Pilupura, will also be affected. Meanwhile, a bandh was observed in Dausa, Mahuwa and other towns of Dausa district today to press the demand for reservation. AIR correspondent Prem Bharati reports from Jaipur that hundreds of protestors led by MLA Hem Singh Bhadana staged a dharna on rail track at Manota near Bandikui, in Dausa district. The police tried to stop the protestors from moving towards the track, but, they resorted to stone pelting after which police had to go on back foot. Later the agitators also took hold of Arania railway station. This has resulted in complete blockage of Jaipur-Delhi and Jaipur-Agra rail route. Many Gujjar women have also jumped in the agitation. Meanwhile, the Dausa bandh call given by the protestors received good response. It was total in Dausa and Mahuwa and partial in other places. At least 12 other districts also witnessed demonstration by Gujjar activists today. Gujjar leaders in Bhilwara have threatened to block Ajmer -Ratlam rail route and Ajmer-Udaipur national highway from tomorrow. Col. Kirodi Singh Bainsla has again threatened that their agitation will continue till the demand of five per cent reservation is fulfilled.
