Agitating ex-servicemen reject key provisions of OROP, say strike to continue

The agitating ex-servicemen have rejected the key provisions of One Rank One Pension announced by the government saying their strike will continue. Talking to AIR, leader of agitating ex-servicemen Major General(retd) Satbir Singh said while the veterans are satisfied with government's intention to implement the OROP but the proposed benefits are not acceptable to them. He rejected the provisions for pension revision after every five years and keeping those who take voluntary retirement out of the scheme.<br/><br/>Terming the provisions of OROP as illogical, Major Gen Satbir Singh said government has accepted one of their demands and rejected six. Ex-servicemen are protesting at Jantar Mantar in the national capital.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, leader of agitating ex-servicemen Maj Gen Satbir Singh said while the veterans are satisfied with government's intention to implement the OROP but the proposed benefits are not acceptable to them. He rejected the provisions for pension revision after every five years and keeping those who take voluntary retirement out of the scheme among others. He said government has accepted one of their demands and rejected six.
