<span style="color: #222222;">An age old Kalyani in the religiously significant Kaiwara in Chintamani taluk of Karnataka was transformed into a beautiful reservoir by villagers under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR Correspondent reports, the beautiful age old Kalyani with stepping stones behind a temple was turned into a dumpyard with foul smell. The Zilla Panchayat used Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme to clean the kalyani of all the dump. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Today the kalyani has a water reserve for people living in this water stressed area. The panchayat created 1,454 mandays to employ 176 persons to clean the Kalyani in four months. Today the water has seeped into this traditional temple reservoir turning an eye sour into an important source of water to the local villagers. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Kalyani is now linked to a borewell for supply of water and fenced. An estimate says that the kalyani can provide 19 lakh litres. </span><br />''
