AG office in Allahabad celebrating 150th year of foundation

The office of the Principal Accountant General popularly known as the AG office in Allahabad is celebrating its 150th year of foundation today of being the head office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG, of India. The Governor of Uttar Pradesh B.L. Joshi will be the chief guest of today’s function in Allahabad. He will also inaugurate a Single Window facility and a website and unveil a commemorative plaque on this occasion. The building of Allahabad wing of CAG was built in 1870 with the expenditure of Rupees 4.25 lakh and designed by Lord Peele. The building is also an example of the marvel of British Gothic Architecture. On the occasion of reaching 150 years, the whole building is decorated with lights and flowers in remembrance of the glorious past of CAG and its state AG offices. The AG UP is mainly responsible for audit and accountant maintenance of offices of Civil departments of state government and also the Central government offices located in Uttar Pradesh. The History of AG office in Allahabad is also directly linked with the history of British India and Battle of 1857.
