The Olympic flame reached Sochi in Russia on Wednesday after following the longest route in the history of the games.During the 65,000-kilometre journey, the torch relay reached the North Pole, and also plunged into the world's deepest lake. It was was even taken into space by Russian cosmonauts. The torchbearers included a 101-year-old man. The relay generated genuine public enthusiasm, and featured famous cultural figures, athletes and other celebrities.
