After bouts of adjournment LS finally decides to meet on 12 April

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned finally for the day to meet again on 12th of next month.<br/><br/>Earlier, the House was adjourned twice in the pre-lunch session following uproar over the display of currency notes worth crores of rupees for garlanding Mayawati at a rally to mark the silver jubilee celebrations of the BSP.<br/><br/>The issue was first raised during the zero hour by Mr Jagadambika Pal of the Congress and members of the Samajwadi Party. This was stoutly objected to by the BSP members.<br/><br/>The agitating members from both sides were up on their feet and indulged in heated exchange of words.<br/><br/>Following this, the House was first adjourned till 1 PM and then till 2 PM when the same situation prevailed.<br/><br/>When the house re-assembled at 2 PM, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Mr V. Narayanasamy urged the members to let the house run, saying that the government will look into the matter. The Leader of the Opposition, Mrs Sushama Swaraj said, the members should be allowed to speak on the matter.<br/><br/>Earlier, the Chair contended that no notices were given for the same. With members belonging to Congress, Samajwadi Party and BJP, as well as the BSP, indulging in heated exchange of words and refusing to heed any appeal by the Chair, the Deputy Speaker, Mr Karia Munda adjourned the house.<br/><br/>The Income Tax department will probe the source of funding of the money for the garland made of 1000 rupee currency notes presented to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati at a rally in Lucknow.<br/><br/>The department will check the source of the money estimated to be between 10 to 20 crore rupees. PTI quoting sources says, the probe will be carried out by the IT department in Lucknow as the venue of the function where Mayawati was presented the garland falls under the jurisdiction of that Ditrectorate.<br/><br/>Sources said the I-T department will probe the origin of the 1,000 notes, the bank they have been sourced from and the bank account holder's identity.<br/><br/>The Department has also asked its intelligence wing to gather information including the funding of the entire event that took place to celebrate Bahujan Samaj Party's anniversary.<br/><br/>Sources said the course of action, may include search and survey operations and it will be decided once the department gets preliminary information.<br/><br/>The IT department will also probe the genuineness of the currency notes which could be seized for ascertaining it.
