AFSPA to be revoked from some J&K areas, says Omar

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omer Abdullah on Friday announced that Armed forces Special Powers Act imposed in the state at the beginning of militancy will be withdrawn in a few days from some areas.Addressing a function in connection with Police commemoration Day in Zevan near Srinagar the chief minister said that the prevailing peaceful situation has paved way for such initiative.He expressed confidence that state police which has played significant role in defeating militancy in the state will be able to maintain law and order in such areas. Lauding the role of police he said once peace strengthens laws like disturbed area act and AFSPA will be withdrawn in total
