Afghanistan's national cricket team will attend a training camp in Sri Lanka before participating in the upcoming Asia Cup and the World Twenty-20 Cup Tournaments in Bangladesh. The Afghanistan Cricket Board in a statement released in Kabul today said the training camp will be held from January 23 to February 23 . The statement said the cricketers will undergo training in 50 over and 20 over cricket formats. The Chairman of Afghan Cricket Board Mohammad Murad has said that the training camp will provide Afghan cricketers an opportunity to acclimatize themselves to the humid weather which is to that of Bangladesh. The Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from February 24 to March 7 this year and India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will participate in it. Afghanistan has also qualified for the World Twenty20 Cricket Cup tournament to be hosted by Bangladesh in March this year. Afghanistan although new to the cricket world is fast emerging as a cricket playing nation. In less than a decade it has acquired the status of associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with its excellent performance and preparing to take on top cricket teams of the world.
