A press release issued by the Afghan President’s office in Kabul says President Hamid Karzai had telephonic conversation with his American counterpart Barack Obama yesterday. Both the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the mission against insurgents in Afghanistan. They also expressed condolences for the soldiers killed in helicopter crash in Maidan Wardak province of east Afghanistan. Thirty American service members, seven Afghan commandos and one civilian interpreter were killed in helicopter crash described as the largest single-day loss of American forces in the decade-long Afghan war. However, the Taliban claimed responsibility for shooting down the US helicopter by rocket fire.
