In Afghanistan, a suicide blast has killed a civilian and injured six others in the southern Kandahar province. A provincial administration spokesperson Zalmai Ayubi said the incident occured this afternoon when the suicide bomber blew himself up in Kandahar city. He said the target apparently was the governor of Daman district Hamdullah Nazik, but he escaped unhurt. The spokesman said the vehicle of the district governor was passing the area when the blast occured. This is the second suicide attack in Kandahar over the past two days.
