Afghanistan: NATO commander apologises over civilian deaths in air strike

The NATO commander in Afghanistan, Gen Stanley Mc Chrystal has publicly apologised over the death of twenty seven civilians in an air strike in Daykundi province.In a video statement, he said he had spoken to Afghan President Karzai and apologised to him for the incident. Gen. McChrystal said that he had instituted a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents happening again. Meanwhile, eight persons were killed and sixteen others injured when a bomb mounted on a bicycle exploded in Lashkargah, capital of the Helmand province. In another incident, five foreign soldiers were injured today after their vehicle was hit by a bomb in Qalat, capital of Zabul province.
