Afghanistan government is planning for a major international conference in capital Kabul to decide upon country’s future course of action for next five years. Presidential spokesman Mr. Humayun Hamidzada said the conference to be held in participation with international community will decide upon several key issues including security, reconciliation, reconstruction and regional cooperation etc. His comments came as Afghan President Mr. Hamid Karzai has set a target of five years to take over country’s security while some western nations are reported to have initiated back-channel negotiations with militant groups to buy peace in Afghanistan. Addressing a press conference in Kabul last evening, the spokesman also said a conference on anti-corruption measures will decide upon steps to tackle corruption. Corruption was a major bone of contention between Afghan government and western nations before Mr. Hamid Karzai was sworn in for his second term last week. Mr. Hamidzada said the Attorney General’s office, being part of judiciary, is looking into cases of corruption and President’s office will not interfere in its work.
