The Chief Executive of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah arrived in New Delhi today. Abdullah was scheduled to arrive yesterday, but his flight was delayed due to a rocket attack on Kabul airport. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held discussions with Dr. Abdullah to strengthen strategic partnership with the close neighbouring country. <br/><br/>Dr Abdullah will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day. The visiting dignitary will also call on President Ram Nath Kovind. AIR correspondent reports that the visit follows the recently concluded second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council which was co-chaired by the External Affairs Minister of India and the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan where both sides ushered in next generation New Development Partnership. India and Afghanistan enjoy deep rooted civilisational links and it has been partnering with the Government and the people of Afghanistan in their efforts to build a stable, peaceful, prosperous, united and pluralistic country.
