Afghanistan: 3 people killed, 26 wounded as armed men attack police headquarters

In Afghanistan, three people have been killed and 26 others wounded when several heavily armed men launched an attack on the police headquarters in the southern city of Kandahar. Reports said the attackers fired rocket-propelled grenades, AK-47 assault rifles and machine guns from the sixth floor of a wedding hall over the road from the police office in the city. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident saying six of its men were holed up in the wedding hall. According to reports, police had entered the building and then there had been two loud explosions. It was not immediately clear about the number of causalities.
