Afghan to increase security around Ainak copper mines

The Afghan Government is considering the issue of increasing the security around Ainak copper mines in Logar province. This was disclosed in the meeting of Council of Ministers chaired by Mohammad Karim Khalili, the Second Vice President of Afghanistan. The meeting considered the report of the Ministry of Mines regarding Ainak mine. The report proposes setting up of 12 new police posts around the mine. Afghanistan has a rich deposit of minerals but due to security reasons foreign companies do not take much interest in investing in the country. The government’s efforts to provide proper security around mines will go a long way to enhance foreign investment in mining sector Afghanistan.
