Afghan President to participate in opening ceremony at Sochi Olympics

Afghan President Hamid Karzai left for Russia today to participate in the opening ceremony of the 22nd Winter Olympics to be held in Sochi this evening. A statement issued by the President's office in Kabul said President is accompanied by a high level delegation which consists of the National Security Advisor Dr.Rangin Dadfar Spanta and Foreign Minister Zarar Ahmad Usmani. According to the statement the Afghan President will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.The leaders of more than 60 countries from around the world are likely to participate in the opening ceremony of 2014 Winter Olympics which is scheduled to be held in the beautiful Black Sea resort city Sochi late this evening.
