An Afghan police recruit has fired on Spanish trainers in north-western Afghanistan. Two Spanish officers and their interpreter were killed. Spanish Interior Minister says Spanish personnel returned fire and killed the Afghan policeman. The incident happened today during a training exercise for Afghan police at a base in Badghis province. Following the shooting dead of the Afghan policeman, about 200 people clashed with the security forces outside the base which is operated by Spanish forces. Hundreds of locals attacked the base shouting and throwing stones. Some attempted to scale the walls. Shots were fired. They were protesting the death of the trainee policeman in a clash earlier in the day. The Taliban says the cadet was working for them.
