President Hamid Karzai has said, Afghan security forces will not take any retaliatory action against Pakistan despite continued shelling in its border areas for several weeks. Mr. Karzai was addressing a joint press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron in Kabul yesterday. He said that Afghanistan is seriously engaged in talks with Pakistan to solve this issue and will never like to harm innocent civilians in Pakistan. Officials say, hundreds of rockets have hit Afghanistan since early June and killed dozens of civilians in the border areas.Afghan Parliament has also defended the attacks and asked the Government to severe ties with Islamabad over the issue. Protest demonstrations have also been organized in Kabul and some other cities against these attacks demanding immediate end to the shelling.Last week, a top Afghan Police General offered his resignation over Afghan Government's response to the attacks. President Karzai himself said, Interior and Defense Ministers had sought his permission to open fire, if more rockets land in Afghan soil. AIR Kabul correspondent reports, that in spite of all the provocation, the Afghan President has refused retaliatory action saying, returning fire will only create more innocent victims in Pakistan.
