Afghan karate team retains 3rd position in Ashihara Sabaki World Karate C'ship

Afghan karate team remained in third position in Ashihara Sabaki World Karate Championship winning one gold, three silver and five bronze medals. The championship hosted by Romania concluded yesterday and 25 countries participated in it. Romania was crowned champion while Russia was the runner up. Afghan team stood third with Washid Ahmad Joya winning gold medal and Abdul Naser, Faisal Shirzai and Abdul Khaliq Abrahimi winning eight silver and bronze medals in different categories. War ravaged Afghanistan is comparatively a new participant in world sports events, but its players and athletes have made a mark in a number of sports and games in the past one decade.
