Afghan government and Taliban representatives are set to hold talks at an undisclosed place in the Maldives on national reconciliation. This will be their second such meeting this year. President Mohammaed Nasheed's Press Secretary Mohamed Zuhair confirmed this saying that talks are being held this week in the Maldives between Afghan lawmakers and representatives from groups opposed to the Afghan government. He said, that the Maldivian government has no involvement in the talks and the location of the talks also cannot be disclosed.According to Zuhair, none of the representatives involved in the talks are listed in UN or other international travel blacklists.
