In Afghanistan, the governor of the northern Kunduz province was killed today in a blast at a mosque. Officials said the incident occurred when Muhammad Omar was attending Friday prayers at a mosque in Taloqan, the capital of neighbouring Takhar province. The authorities said at least 20 people were killed or wounded in the explosion.
