Afghan election officials have disqualified 1.3 million votes caste in last month's parliamentary elections because of fraud and other irregularities. That comes to nearly a quarter of 5.6 million ballots counted. At least 224 candidates are reportedly being investigated for fraud. About 2500 candidates took part in the elections in September competing for seats in the Lower House of Parliament.
