AFC CUP: India defeated Lanka by 50 runs

India defeated Sri Lanka by 50 runs in their opening Asia Cup cricket match at Mirpur in Dhaka today. After setting a sizeable victory target of 305 runs, India dismissed Sri Lanka for 254 in 45.1 overs. Irfan Pathan was the highest wicket-taker with four wickets. Earlier, put in to bat, title holders India made 304 for three in the stipulated 50 overs. Opener Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli slammed sparkling centuries. In the process, both the batsmen completed their tenth ODI hundreds. While Gambhir made 100, Kohli was out for 108. Sachin Tendulkar fell cheaply for six runs in the sixth over of the innings. Tendulkar's quest for a 100th international century has now extended for more than a year. Virat Kohli was declared Man of the Match.
