The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority, AERA, today approved 345 per cent passenger fee hike at Delhi Airport. Talking to All India Radio, the chairperson of AERA, Mr Yashwant S Bhave said that the airport operator had sought a 774 per cent hike in user development fee ,UDF,citing operational losses. The increase, which will be effective from 15th of next month will be levied both on passengers arriving at and departing from the airport.The hike will see an increase of 250 to 600 rupees for domestic passengers, while International passengers will have to pay 570 to 1400 rupees extra. At present a domestic passengers pays around 200 rupees while international passengers pay 1200 rupees towards UDF. Mr. Bhave said that the UDF has been introduced for the first time at Delhi airport as operators find themselves in a fluid position fanancially due to uncertain flow of passengers.
