The planning Commision has set up an Advisory Committee to implement drought mitigation strategies in Bundelkhand region in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The 15 member panel will be headed by Deputy Chairman of the Commission, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia. Among other things, the committee will advise on the new schemes for development of the Bundelkhand region. It will also suggest the requirements, future strategy for the development and package. The Union Cabinet had earlier approved a 7266 crore rupees special package for the implementation of drought mitigation strategy of three years for integrating of the region. The region comprises seven districts of six districts of Madhya Pradesh.
